Every Call Counts

  • Google Calendar ICS

One of the most effective ways to defend our democracy in post-election mode is to hold our elected officials (both Democrats and Republicans) accountable in protecting our rights and let them know we are watching them closely, especially when they quietly insert policies and nominations into bills.

Indivisible Charlotte has a new ‘Every Call Counts’ committee that will help us get organized using simple and effective tools to hold the legislators accountable and push for the changes we want to see in the local, state, and federal government.

Every Call Counts is an ongoing action via Mobilize. When you sign up, you receive information on the latest political issues and instructions on whom to call with a suggested script.

The motto of Every Call Counts is in its name: Every single call is tallied on each issue at the offices of our representatives. No call is wasted. The more people that call, the more successful we can be in preventing harmful policies.

Did you know you can make more than one call on any issue? Each day you can make the call again to increase the tally in our favor.

Help us, help the country, help NC, and especially help empower yourself by signing up to make phone calls through Every Call Counts. Please share with your friends and family to help increase our numbers of activists. Every sign-up is another Defender of Democracy added to the growing army of defenders. Help us grow this group to be responsive, effective, and powerful!

Here is the Mobilize Link to get you started. Let’s DO SOMETHING!!!

Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. We are fighting back!

They're taking everything they can get their hands on—our health care, our data, our jobs, our services—and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.

On Saturday, April 5th, we're taking to the streets to fight back with a clear message: Hands off!

This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies. Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country.

A core principle behind all Hands Off! events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

From the New Deal to the Field: A Conversational Training with Lexi Coburn and Kristen Grimm

ICLT is proud to present our 7th DEI+ training with Lexi Coburn.

REGISTER HERE

As we enter another Trump Administration era, laced with higher stakes and lower stability, the time has come for us to look to our past for possible answers for our collective future.

‘From the New Deal to the Field’ is a new, conversational training created to address the intersection of class, privilege and shared humanity as to implement tactics and strategies with current activists for the fight we have right now and into the future.

Part history lesson and part training, ‘From the New Deal to the Field’ examines the work of Eleanor Roosevelt, her social justice journey and the society of reformers she surrounded herself with leading up to the New Deal in the 1930’s.

We’ve invited Kristen Grimm, the founder of the Eleanor Roosevelt Society: A Traveling Lecture Series, to be our guest during this training. Kristen and Lexi will take you on a journey of learning how Eleanor Roosevelt used her position as First Lady to go into some of the most economically disadvantaged areas in the United States to this current time as the policy and social foundations of the New Deal are rapidly eroding before our eyes.

We encourage all levels of activists to join, from people who have been knocking on doors since 2017 and those of you who have just joined - there is no frame of reference needed, as this session will help us all understand together where we’ve been, how we got here, and what we can do build us back together again.

Volunteer during Meck County Early Voting

PHONEBANK IN MECK COUNTY WITH THE CENTER FOR COMMON GROUND

Make calls during early voting to people of color in Mecklenburg County who do not vote regularly. This is the fastest way to cover the most ground and can be done right from the comfort of your own home! Once you sign up you are given access to the phonebank and make calls at your convenience. You are able to leave voice messages when there is no answer.

Sign up here! (Use your email address and “Volunteer” option when logging in)

BE A POLL GREETER

Each Early Voting location will have a table with the Blue Ballot and candidate information. We need volunteers to man those tables.

Peggy Dickerson with Meck Dems schedules volunteers for all Early Voting and Election Day polling sites in Mecklenburg.

To volunteer to serve at a table, email Peggy (peggy@meckdems.org) so she can help you find the best shift and location.

Include your:

  • Phone number

  • Best time to call

**Poll Greeter - Poll Greeters are volunteers who work outside the polling place during Early Voting and on Election Day (in precincts where greeting is allowed).  Greeters offer our Blue Ballot cards to voters as they arrive on site, and encourage them to vote all the way down the ballot for our good Democratic candidates.  Greeters typically wear our MeckDems t-shirts so they are recognized as Dems. We do not, however, wear political attire when going inside the polling place, so poll greeters should bring a shirt or sweater to put over their t-shirt when going inside to the restroom or to interact with poll staff.

Contact Peggy if you are interested!

Canvassing and Voter Engagement in Tricia Cotham’s HD105

Since the end of January, ICLT volunteers have been out talking to voters in House District 105.

We not only know that face-to-face conversations with voters is the most effective way to get them to the polls, we also know the value of talking to voters early and often to have lasting impact. We’ll be in HD105 through the election--but now is the critical time to reach voters with our deep canvassing script.

Sign up HERE!

Indivisible Charlotte, utilizing data-driven strategies, is organizing essential electoral initiatives in NC HD105 - Tricia Cotham's district. This is a pivotal district that we MUST turn blue to break the GOP supermajority in the General Assembly. We are capitalizing on the anger expressed by voters in Cotham’s district and voters across the state who have lost freedoms as a result of her party switch. We need your help.

Our key goals:

  • Understand and address voter issues

  • Educate voters on the freedoms lost to Cotham's party switch and on Photo ID

  • Engage committed voters to volunteer for 2024

  • Register new voters
